My Approach

My name is Suzan Chu and I am a registered Social Worker who is in good standing with the Ontario College of  Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).  I am also a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW).  I have been working with children, teens, adults, and families for over 14 years in various settings.  My mission is to help individuals, children, youth, and families navigate life's challenges by helping them develop tools to cope with challenges related to anxiety, depression, trauma, loss, fertility, parenting, self-esteem, relationships, and life transitions.  I work from a strengths-based and person centered-approach, while also utilizing various therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Emotion-Focused Family Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, and Mindfulness.

I understand how hard it can be to reach out for support, which is why I work hard to create a warm and welcoming space where you can feel safe, heard, and understood.  I believe that everyone is unique and there is no such thing as a "best fit" model for all.  My therapy approach to our work together will be individualized based on your specific needs, concerns and goals.  I hope that together, we can focus on building solutions and creating strategies to help you manage and accept the changes or challenges that are happening in your life.
